If you have checked out a lot of Internet sites, you've probably stumbled upon some error message once in a while. An error may take place in case the website hosting server can't process a request (Error 400), if you must log in in order to see some content and you haven't done so (Error 401), if you are not allowed to access some page (Error 403) or if a link leads to a file which isn't on the server (Error 404). Encountering this type of messages can often be annoying since the pages have absolutely nothing in common with the actual website. That’s why some website hosting providers allow you to apply your own error pages that will match the style of your own website and that can have any content that you'd like - details why the error has appeared, a suggestion what you can do or even some funny comment. This type of feature can help you keep the visitor on the site whatever the error and the reason for it.
Custom Error Pages in Website Hosting
If you order a website hosting from us, you will be able to set customized error pages for your Internet sites easily and quickly, as this function is a part of all our packages. The moment you've created the files and uploaded them to your web hosting account, you should check out the Hosted Domains section of your Hepsia Control Panel and click on the Edit button for the selected domain or subdomain. Inside the pop-up that will appear, you shall see drop-down options menus for all four types of errors and for each of them you can select an Apache default page, a generic page from our system or a personalized page. Should you choose the third option, you should simply type the URL to the file that you have uploaded then save the change. One other way to set custom made error pages is to set up an .htaccess file inside the domain or subdomain folder and to add a couple of lines of code in it. If you don't have prior experience or if you are just uncertain how to do that, you can simply copy/paste the code from our Knowledge Base article on that matter.
Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers
When you host your Internet sites in a semi-dedicated server account from our company, you can set tailor-made error pages for any of them with ease using our in-house developed Hepsia hosting Control Panel. With only a couple of mouse clicks in the Hosted Domains section, you could change the default setting from a system page to a personalized one for any of the four error types. All you must do is supply a link to each file that you have uploaded before that and then save the change. If required, you'll be able to revert this modification anytime and in exactly the same way. If you wish, you can use an .htaccess file as well. It has to be created/uploaded inside the domain or subdomain folder related to the site whose error pages you intend to alter and the content for such a file can be found in our Help article on this matter.
